Pray

My kid was sitting playing with her toys one day and all of sudden she said, “Momma. Let’s pray.”

Taken aback, I stopped playing on Facebook working and said, “Ok, Bug…let’s pray.”

And I watched a miracle happen.

She folded her little hands, raised them up to her forehead, and simply said, “Thank you Jesus for this day.”

And then the moment was over.

We start our day off and end each day with that simple prayer.

But all too often, I think we forget that we don’t have to be in a quiet room and among pews to say a prayer.

Praying should be active.  It should happen all day.  And sometimes it does…you know..the “Mom” prayers…”Dear God, Please give me patience so that I won’t lose it on my two year old who refuses to get dressed.” or “Dear God, Why the HELL can’t my child behave in the store.”

But really – talk to God like you would talk to your best friend – often and honestly.

I’m the last person to give religious advice or dissect the text of the Bible, but I do know one thing.  Any relationship where you don’t give enough attention to – will suffer.

And that includes your relationship with God.

So, let’s all take a my kid’s cue and just stop for a second and say a quick prayer.  Talk to your God – He’s always waiting to hear from you.

14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” – Mark 10:14-15
